EXAMPLE:3,2',4'-Triacetyl-23-iodo-23-deoxymycaminosyltylonolide. USE:A readily producible antimicrobial agent capable of exhibiting powerful activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. PREPARATION:For example, tylosin expressed by formula III is hydrolyzed with hydrochloric acid, etc., to eliminate mycarose and mycinose moieties and provide a compound expressed by formula IV, which is then reacted with triphenylphosphine and iodine in a solvent, e.g. DMF, etc., to afford a compound expressed by formula V. The resultant compound, if necessary, is subjected to acylation.
