PURPOSE:To obtain high compressibility by blocking an input digital image signal, detecting a maximum value and a minimum value at every block, quantizing image element data in adapting them to a dynamic range which is a difference between the values, and predictively coding a code signal corresponding to range information and each image element. CONSTITUTION:When a digital video signal is inputted to an input terminal 1, it is supplied to a blocking circuit 2, it is converted to the order of a television scanning, it is added to an ADRC coding circuit 3, and it is encoded. Next, a dynamic range DR, a minimum value MIN and a code signal DT from such a place are sent to predictive coding circuits 4, 5 and 6, respectively, the residual of a value predicted from the additional information of the present block and the additional information of a preceding block is obtained and encoded by the circuits 4 and 5, and the code signal generated at every image element is predictively coded by the circuit 6. Thereafter, the outputs are supplied to a frame circuit 7, corrected as necessary, made into the signal of a frame construction, and outputted from an output terminal 8. |
