The process according to the invention for assaying SOD activity in a liquid medium uses the activation, by SOD activity, of the autoxidation of a reagent of formula: <IMAGE> PO3R<6>, R<2> = H, alkyl (1 to 6 C), COR<5>, SO2R<5>, PO2R<5>, CO2R<6>, SO3R<6> or PO3R<6>, R<3> = H or OR<4>, with R<4> = H, alkyl (1 to 6 C), benzyl, p-nitrobenzyl, p-dimethylaminobenzyl, p-carbomethoxybenzyl, vinyl, trimethylsilyl, COR<5>, SO2R<5>, PO2R<5>, CO2R<6>, SO3R <6 , PO3R<6>, COR<8>, CO2R<7>, CON(R<8>,R<9>), NO2, SO2R<8>, PO3R<8> or PO2N(R<8>,R <9>), R<5> = CF3, CF2R<7> or p-nitrophenyl, R<6> = H, CF3, CF2R<7> or p-nitrophenyl, R<7> = alkyl (1 to 6 C), benzyl, p-nitrobenzyl, p-dimethylaminobenzyl or p-carbomethoxybenzyl, R<8> = H, alkyl (1 to 6 C), benzyl, p-nitrobenzyl, p-dimethylaminobenzyl or p-carbomethoxybenzyl, and R<9> = H, alkyl (1 to 6 C), benzyl, p-nitrobenzyl, p-dimethylaminobenzyl or p-carbomethoxybenzyl. Application to assaying SOD activity in a sample, especially a biological sample, in particular using a single measurement and a calibration curve.
