<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a tire excellent in a gripping performance and wear resistance of tires, and to provide a tire using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for a tire is produced by blending, based on 100 pts.mass of diene rubber, 3 to 200 pts.mass of at least one of conjugate diene polymers or conjugate diene-aromatic vinyl copolymers having a weight-average molecular weight Mw of 300 to 50,000 and having a molecular chain end modified by at least one functional group selected from a group consisting of -SH, -CSSH, -SO<SB>3</SB>H, -(COO)<SB>x</SB>M, -(SO<SB>3</SB>)<SB>x</SB>M, and -CO-R.
