Provided is a sealing device with a reduced sliding resistance. A sealing device (1) is installed in an annular groove formed in one of a housing with a shaft hole and a shaft inserted into the shaft hole and seals the annular gap between these two members. The sealing device (1) comprises a seal ring (2) made of a resin slidably contacting with the other of the two members and an elastic ring (3) fitted between the seal ring (2) and the annular groove. The sealing device is characterized in that the seal ring has recesses (22) formed in the sliding surface (20) thereof slidably contacting with the other member.
