<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that although a conventional recording and reproducing device displays the remaining video recordable time of a recording device, a broadcast stream of digital broadcasting is different in bit rate owing to a broadcast network etc., and when the broadcast stream is recorded as it is and the remaining time is calculated with the bit rate fixed for the free capacity of the recording device, a value different from the actual remaining time is displayed. <P>SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device holds bit rate information wherein a broadcasting channel and the bit rate of a broadcast stream of the broadcasting channel are related to each other. The recording and reproducing device has a recording unit capable of receiving and recording a digital broadcast in a broadcast stream form as it is, and acquires the bit rate of the broadcast stream of a specified broadcasting channel based upon the bit rate information to calculate and display the remaining time for which the content of the broadcasting channel can be recorded in a free space of the recording unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
