PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder injection type internal combustion engine which can control the flow speed of gas in proximity to an ignition part of an ignition plug, and which enables a fuel-air mixture suitable for ignition to stay for a long period. SOLUTION: The cylinder injection type internal combustion engine has a passage 25 on the wall surface between an injection part 11 and the ignition part 17 of a combustion chamber 6, wherein the passage 25 directs the fuel injected from the injection part 11 directly to the vicinity of the ignition part; and a reflection part 28 which reflects part of the fuel injected from the injection part 11, and directs it to the vicinity of the ignition part indirectly. Because of this constitution, the fuel-air mixture suitable for ignition continues to stay in the vicinity of the ignition part for a long period of time because of the difference in arrival timing caused by two kinds of direct and indirect channels and because of the curbed flow speed of gas to reach the ignition part by reflection.
