摘要	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target waveform determination method and a target waveform determination device which can select a target waveform suitable for a recording medium. SOLUTION: A low-frequency signal and a high-frequency signal are written onto a recording medium of a magnetic storage device. Damping factors at prescribed time of signal levels of written low-frequency signal and high-frequency signal are computed based on the signal levels of obtained low-frequency signal and high-frequency signal and the signal levels of the low-frequency signal and the high-frequency signal obtained after a lapse of a prescribed standby period of time. The damping factor of the signal level of the low-frequency signal and the damping factor of the signal level of the high-frequency signal which have been computed are compared.
