PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a neighborhood retrieval device for selecting an appropriate index for each retrieval object. SOLUTION: The neighborhood retrieval device includes: a storage part for storing a meta table having index dependent meta data corresponding to the data structure of each index; a database management part for, when receiving an instruction from a user, retrieving an index corresponding to the instruction, and for making an index part execute processing corresponding to the instruction by using index dependent meta data corresponding to the index; and the index part for performing the instructed processing by using the index dependent meta data based on the instruction from the database management part.
