PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melanin production inhibitor higher in both melanin inhibition capacity and safety than a skin bleaching agent formulated from a conventional melanin production inhibitor or the like and to provide a skin bleaching agent. SOLUTION: The melanin production inhibitor contain a compound of chemical formula (1), having potent melanin production inhibition action, being capable of inhibiting the formation of pigment spots, freckles, and dark skin, and being excellent in safety and a skin bleaching agent.
