A washing machine and a power control method thereof are provided to sense a power button when an input key and the power button are pressed simultaneously by using a power button sensing unit. A power control method of a washing machine comprises the steps of: judging whether a power button is inputted or not; judging whether the power is applied or not if the power button is inputted simultaneously with an input key; and ignoring the input key related to a washing process and inputting the power button for applying power to the washing machine if the power is not applied. |
