PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sets of genes the expression of which is important in the prognosis of cancer, in particular, gene expression information useful for predicting whether cancer patients are likely to have a beneficial treatment response to chemotherapy.SOLUTION: A method for determining the likelihood of a beneficial response of a human patient with breast cancer to an anthracycline-based chemotherapy, comprises: determining a normalized expression level of an RNA transcript, or its expression product, of DICER1 in a breast cancer sample obtained from the patient; and predicting the likelihood of a beneficial response of the patient to the anthracycline-based chemotherapy, using the DICER1 normalized expression level, wherein the DICER1 normalized expression level is negatively correlated with the likelihood of a beneficial response of the patient to the anthracycline-based chemotherapy. |
