PURPOSE: An inhibitor and a breaker of an advanced glycation end-products (AGEs)-induced crosslink, containing chebulic acid as an active ingredient are provided to suppress and break a crosslink between AGEs containing chebulic acid and proteins, thereby preventing or treating diseases. CONSTITUTION: A glycation inhibitor contains chebulic acid as an active ingredient and suppresses AGE formation caused by collagen. A crosslink inhibitor contains chebulic acid as an active ingredient and suppresses a crosslink between AGEs and proteins. A crosslink breaker contains chebulic acid as an active ingredient and breaks a crosslink between AGEs and proteins. A functional cosmetic composition contains chebulic acid, a Terminalia chebula Retz. extract containing chebulic acid, or a Terminalia chebula Retz. fraction containing chebulic acid as an active ingredient. The functional cosmetic composition improves anti-wrinkling or antiaging effects or skin elasticity. |
