<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a vehicle with an AMT mounted thereon from moving backward for a relatively long time when starting moving on an upslope, with a simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: When a start-control condition is established (tA), start control is started. While a transmission is in first gear for start, engine torque Te and clutch torque Tc are increased in a feed-forward manner according to a predetermined pattern, respectively. On the basis of the transition of " a rotation speed Ni of an input shaft of the transmission" detected after the start of the start control, whether a vehicle is on an upslope is determined.
