A method for treating wet paint booth circulating water, the method including: the addition of a wet paint booth circulating water treatment agent comprising an aqueous solution that contains tannin, an alkali metal hydroxide, and/or an alkali metal carbonate to circulating water in any passage for wet paint booth circulating water, the wet paint booth circulating water being supplied from a water tank to a paint booth to collect uncoated paint and then return to the water tank; and the detackifying of the uncoated paint collected in the circulating water.
