PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction material composition suitable for a friction material that improves its squeal characteristics without significantly reducing friction coefficients at high temperatures, and a friction material and a friction member using the friction material composition.SOLUTION: The friction material composition comprises a binder, a fibrous base material, an abrasive, an inorganic filler and an organic filler, wherein the abrasive comprises a silicate having a specific surface area of 400-800 m/g as calculated using the BET method, and preferably, exhibiting a Mohs hardness of 6 or less. Preferably, the silicate is at least one selected from a magnesium silicate, an aluminum silicate, a calcium silicate, a sodium silicate, a potassium silicate and a lithium silicate is contained by 1-10 wt% in the whole friction material composition. |
