<p>The barrier (10) has a first microwave unit (14a) including a transmitter and a first antenna (16a) to radiate microwave signal, and a second microwave unit (14b) with a receiver and a second antenna (16b) to receive the microwave signal. An evaluation unit recognizes whether an object (17) is in a microwave path (12) between the microwave units from the received microwave signal. The first and second microwave units include a radio frequency transceiver to radiate and receive the microwave signals. The transceiver is portion of an integrated digital building block for wireless communication.
