The present invention relates to a control method of a vehicle black box for reducing a storage space. The method comprises: (a3) an image obtaining step of obtaining an image photographed through a camera module; (b3) an image processing step of dividing the image obtained through the image obtaining step into a relevant area and an irrelevant area through a controller according to frames, respectively; and (c3) a different compression step of compressing the relevant area to a relatively high-resolution image as per each of the frames, and compressing the irrelevant area to a relatively low-resolution image to reduce the capacity of the image to be stored, following the image processing step. According to the present invention, after dividing the image into the relevant area and the irrelevant area, each of the relevant areas and the irrelevant areas is differently compressed and stored to secure the storage space of a storage part of the vehicle black box, thereby increasing image recording volume. When dividing the image obtained in a drive mode into the relevant area and the irrelevant area, and compressing and storing the relevant area and the irrelevant area, the controller performs a background transcoding process in a parking mode which is in an idle state, so the capacity of the controller is not enlarged and a conventional capacity can be utilized without an overload. |
