摘要 <p>The invention relates to a method for optimizing a location system including a number N of terrestrial transmitting base stations, where N is greater than or equal to 2, said base stations being capable of being installed at predetermined positions so as to cover an area of land, the boundaries of which are known, in order to enable any mobile multichannel CDMA receiver in said area to extract the position thereof from CDMA signals received thereby from a plurality of said terrestrial base stations. The method comprises a first step (110 to 140) of searching, for any pair of terrestrial base stations i and j having predetermined positions xi et xj, respectively, for a restricted range of variation in which the inter-correlation coefficients on receiving channel i and on receiving channel j of the receiver are at a maximum, on the basis of the estimates of the minimum and maximum differences between the propagation time of the signals transmitted by the terrestrial base stations i and j for all of the possible positions of the receiver; and a step (150) of estimating an intentional time-based offset value dij to be applied to the transmission between a first code transmitted by the base station i and a second code, transmitted by the base station j, for which the inter-correlation between said first code and said second code is minimal for all of the delays within said restricted range of variation.</p>
