PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation detection element capable of being easily configured and obtaining sufficient detection sensitivity about detection of the direction of a radiation source or the like.SOLUTION: A radiation detection element 1 includes: two or more scintillator crystals; a shielding body 10 composed of a material having a higher radiation shielding property than the two or more scintillator crystals; and two or more photodetectors corresponding to the two or more scintillator crystals, respectively. The two or more scintillator crystals are embedded in the shielding body 10 so as to have directivities in directions different from each other. The two or more photodetectors detect light emissions from the corresponding scintillator crystals among the two or more scintillator crystals, respectively.
