<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the diameter of a circular electrode for a projection bolt is large, which is uneconomical. <P>SOLUTION: A shaft-shaped component 1 including: a shaft part 2; a flange 3; and a projection 4 for welding is used as an object for electric resistance welding. In the electrode, a cover member 11 of the electrode body 6 is coupled with a cylindrical pressing member 36 whose size is made smaller than that of the electrode body 6 in a state of being projected from the edge face 12 of the cover member 11, the tip face 38 of the cylindrical pressing member 36 is made into the electrode edge face 38 adhered to the flange 3, a receiving hole 17 into which the shaft part 2 is inserted is formed at the central part of the electrode edge face 38, and the outer circumferential part of the cylindrical pressing member 36 is provided with a heat radiation part 39 exposed to the space.
