626,345. Propelling ships. AKT.-GES. FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. Nov. 19, 1946, No. 34258. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1945. [Class 114] [Also in Group XXVI] A ship's propelling plant using a compressed gaseous medium, has this medium used also for actuating the variable pitch gear of the propeller. The governing of the gas turbine 4, 41 is carried out by the governor 17 either to admit air from the H.P. reservoir 8 or to reject air to the L.P. reservoir 14. Air from the H.P. reservoir is led to a control valve A by which the air is selectively directed to a motor for operating the propeller pitch varying gear. When air is admitted to the motor the piston 43 lifts the locking pawl 42, allowing the actuating rod 41 to move axially.
