<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of detecting difference in the kind of a label and orientation of the same and inspecting a correct placement position of the label relative to an adherend when heat transfer of the transfer label. <P>SOLUTION: For individual transfer labels, a data identification code is printed at a predetermined position in a margin of a carrier film. A label cassette, in which the transfer labels having been printed with the identification codes are contained, is set in a heat transfer machine, and the identification codes printed on the labels are read out by a label identification code reader.
