PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which enables, by capturing unnecessary metal ions, the suppression of the internal short circuit and the reduction in capacity without causing an irreversible side reaction which results in the decrease in capacity.SOLUTION: A separator for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries comprises: a separator main body composed of a porous polymer film; and a polymer compound or modification group which includes a terminal group expressed by any one of the following general formulas (X) to (Z) on the electrode contact face of the separator main body and/or the inside surface of each micropore therein.
