Disclosed are an active eddy current damper, a control method, a load cell module with the same, and a weight sorting device. The active eddy current damper includes a movable conductive body connected to an operator and moving according to the movement of the operator; a damping unit damping the movement of the movable conductive body using an eddy current generated by an electromagnetic force due to the relative movement of the movable conductive body and damping unit as a damping force; and a damping control unit actively controlling the damping force of the damping unit based on physical properties of an object applying a load to the operator and movement properties of the operator. The damping control unit includes a natural frequency calculating unit calculating natural frequencies of the movement of the movable conductive body; a target frequency determining unit determining a target frequency of the movement of the movable conductive body according to the physical properties of a measurement object; a damping coefficient modeling unit modeling a damping coefficient related to the damping force of the damping unit with reference to the calculated natural frequencies and the determined target frequency; and a control parameter determining unit determining a control parameter related to the movement of the damping unit with reference to the modeled damping coefficient and the target frequency. The present invention is capable of actively varying the damping force of the eddy current damper according to a weight and a required measurement velocity of the measurement object and remarkably increasing the durability of a load cell.
