A gaseous absorbent comprises a mixture of an alkaline carbonate and unactivated vegetable charcoal, kieselguhr infusorial earth or light magnesia. As an example a mixture of charcoal and potassium carbonate in equal proportions is given. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the preparation of a mixture of alumina (from aluminium nitrate) and vegetable carbonaceous material, and also a mixture of silica (from sodium silicate), and vegetable carbonaceous material. The charcoal, magnesia, kieselguhr or infusorial earth may be used singly or in various combinations thereof. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
