In apparatus for discharging material from a pressurised shaft furnace, particularly a pressure gas producer, of the type including a table provided with a central discharge opening to which opening material is conducted by a rotatable hood disposed thereabove and provided with scrapers, the rotary hood is mounted on bearings on a hollow water-cooled shaft connected by water-cooled arms to the furnace shell and is provided with a water-cooled chamber. The fuel column of a pressure gas producer rests on the annular . plate 2, the central opening of which is covered by a rotary hood 3 provided with a water-cooled chamber 10 communicating with chambers 18 in an annular spur-gear 7 and mounted in bearings on a hollow water-cooled shaft 4 having hollow arms 6 connected to the furnace shell and supplied with water through the connection 14. The hood is driven by a pinion 8 and shaft 9 and scrapers 13 direct the ash into a collecting chamber 19 which is intermittently opened to conventional sluicing apparatus by a hydraulically-operated valve 15. Gasification media such as oxygen, steam or methane-containing gases are passed through the interiorly-insulated pipe 17 terminating below a cover-plate 12, which also protects orifices discharging steam generated in the chamber 10 into the fuel column, and in cases where several gases are introduced, the coverplate 12 may be replaced by a stepped cupola, different gases being fed through each step. |
