A gas fire 10 has a fire chamber 12 housing a fuel gas burner (14, figs 3 and 4) and a gas-to-liquid heat exchanger 16 connected to a liquid-based heating arrangement (such as a water central heating system 18, fig 5) with heated gases produced by the combustion of fuel gas in the chamber 12 impinging upon the heat exchanger 16. The heat exchanger 16 is at the top of the chamber 12 adjacent to a baffle 38, and has coiled conduits or is a box heat exchanger. A flue can be balanced or conventional, or the fire can be flueless. The heat exchanger 16 may be bypassed, and a condensate reservoir or collector for evaporation of condensate through the flue provided.
|
