PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device reducing the power consumption of an input stage of a microphone amplification circuit without compromising noise performance and the ability to handle the maximum audio signal level.SOLUTION: A hearing device includes: a microphone Mincluding a microphone transducer element; a microphone amplification circuit 101 configured to generate an amplified microphone signal; a control and processing circuit for receiving the amplified microphone signal and processing the signal according to hearing loss of a user; and a level detector 107 configured to detect a level of the amplified microphone signal. The microphone amplification circuit is coupled to a switchable power supply 102. The switchable power supply is configured to selectively connect a first power supply voltage having a first DC voltage level, or a second power supply voltage having a second DC voltage level higher than the first DC voltage level, to the microphone amplification circuit on the basis of the detected level of the amplified microphone signal. |
