PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data generation device, image data generation method, and printing system which reduce a load of data transmission to a printing machine.SOLUTION: A replacement unit 25 replaces a lower bit of a gradation value expressed with binary of a specific pixel of source image data with additional information required in printing data generation processing in a printing machine 3; or replaces the least significant bit of a gradation value expressed with binary of a specific pixel of source image data after RIP processing with information to be transmitted to the printing machine 3. The information to be transmitted to the printing machine 3 includes multi-SPM selection information to be used in halftone dot meshing processing in the printing machine 3.
