<p>A network element 130 (e.g. a femtocell Home Node B), for supporting communication within a cell of a cellular network, comprises a signal processing module 165 to identify a forthcoming interference event, generate a message comprising an indication of the identified forthcoming interference event, and transmit the message comprising the indication of the identified forthcoming interference event to a further network element 230 supporting a neighbouring cell. The further network element 230 schedules transmissions within the cell supported thereby, in response to the indicated forthcoming interference event, to enable a reduction in inter-cell interference. The forthcoming interference event may comprise a high power transmission in the downlink and/or uplink, or a compressed mode period.</p> |
