<p>A capo or capotasto element a for changing the pitch of an individual string 4 of a fretted musical instrument that has a fretboard 3 and at least one string 4 comprises a body and a groove 5 in one of the faces of the body, with the groove 5 being configured to accommodate and mechanically secure the string 4 and wherein the groove 5 has a width that prevents vibration of the string 4 beyond the capo element 1 thereby selectively setting the vibrational length of the string 4. An adhesive is provided on another of the faces of the body so that the capo element can be secured to the fretboard 3 of the instrument at the desired position. The capo element 1 may include a set of three blades (6, figure 1a) in a line of the string 4 that can form the groove 5. A cut-out on the lower surface of the body may be provided so that the capo element can sit on a fret 2 of the fretboard 3. A set of capo elements 1 may be provided, each with a groove of different width, so that the pitch of all the strings of the musical instrument can be changed.</p> |
