<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which solves the problem that standardization of density to correct the variation of the density of an image according to the recording medium having the image formed thereon can cause excessive toner application depending on the recording medium because the toner amount used for outputting the same image is different according to the recording medium, which causes a fixation defect, resulting in quality deterioration of the image such as scattering.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus estimates the toner amount used on the basis of record-medium-independent density acquired on an intermediate transfer body, and record-medium-dependent density acquired on a record medium, and forms patches on a target print medium under a process condition for using the toner amount, and a process condition obtained by changing the toner amount on the basis of the toner amount. The image forming apparatus measures the density of the patches, specifies a process condition having attained target density, forms an image under the condition, and with employing the toner amount used for the target density under the condition as a maximum toner amount per color component, converts the upper limit amount of toner application into the scale of density.</p> |
