PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a truncated ActRIIB-Fc fusion protein.SOLUTION: In certain aspects, the present invention provides compositions comprising polypeptides derived from ActRIIB for modulating (promoting or inhibiting) growth of a tissue, such as bone, cartilage, muscle, fat, brown fat and/or neuronal tissue and for treating metabolic disorders such as diabetes and obesity, as well as disorders associated with any of the foregoing tissue. In certain specific aspects, the present invention provides novel ActRIIB polypeptides, particularly amino- and carboxy-terminal truncation types and sequence alteration types. |
