In the present invention, disclosed are a liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The disclosed liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes a substrate, a gate line and a data line which are alternatively arranged to define a pixel region on the substrate, a switching device which is arranged in an intersection region between the gate line and the data line, a common voltage line which is parallel to the gate line and crosses the data line, a common electrode which is arranged in the pixel region, and a pixel electrode which is arranged to be overlapped by interposing a protection layer on the common electrode. The common voltage line partially overlaps the gate electrode of a thin film transistor in the pixel region. The liquid crystal display device and the manufacturing method thereof according to the present invention improve a pixel aperture ratio and simplify a process by locating the common voltage line formed in the pixel region in the non-display region of the common electrode. |
