773,213. Retractive switches. CUTLERHAMMER, Inc. Aug. 9,1954 [Aug. 12, 1953], No. 23073/54. Class 38(5) The opening through a bush 40 in which is pivoted at 44 the actuating lever 42 of an electric switch is sealed by an elastic member 46 which is shaped as shown in Fig. 3 and embraces the spherical portion 54 of the lever. The external and internal dimensions of the member 46 when unstressed are respectively greater and less than the internal dimensions of bushing 40 and the external dimensions of spherical part 54 of lever .42. The sloping inner surfaces 46d of other member 46 facilitate turning of the lever, and a depresion in the member at 46f or in the bushing internal surface 40b provides space into which the 'member 46 can bulge. In the switch shown, lever 42 carries at its lower end a plunger 24 urged downwards, by a spring 32 into contact with a bridging member 22, which rocks about pivots formed in the edges of a V-shaped member 16a to make contact at one end or the other. Return springs 48, 50 acting on lever 42 are mounted in upper portions 14a of a switch frame 14 carried on base 10 the switching space being enclosed by a cover 12. |
