799,765. Vaporizers, CONSTOCK LIQUID METHANE CORPORATION. May 7, 1957, No. 14541/57. Class 7(3) [Also in Group XXVIII] Liquified natural gas used to cool gaseous materials immediately prior to compression thereof becomes vaporized and is then utilized as fuel for an I.C. engine which operates the compressor. The liquified natural gas is pumped from a reservoir 5 through a coil 8 in a heat exchange chamber 10 into which the gaseous materials are conveyed by a conduit 11. Some of the vaporized natural gas flowing from the coil 8 through a pipe 14 is bled off at 15 as fuel for the engine 16 which operates the compressor 13 having flywheels 50. The compressed gaseous materials are conveyed through a conduit 20 to a watercooled heat exchanger 21. There may be one or more further stages of compression; e.g. the compressed gaseous materials may be supplied via a pipe 27 to a heat exchange chamber 28 similar to the chamber- 10 and from which gas is supplied via pipes 30 and 36 as fuel for the engine 37 draining the compressor 35. |
