PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work machine capable of reducing the power for driving a boom by compensating for the weight of a work mechanism acting on the boom. ! SOLUTION: A hydraulic shovel 100 is so configured that a boom 5 of a work attachment 4 is fitted rotatably to an upper swivel body 3, and a weight compensation spring 9 for compensating for the weight of the work attachment 4 is fitted to the boom 5. The boom 5 is provided with a projection part 51, and the weight compensation spring 9 has one end fitted to the projection part and the other end fitted to the upper swivel body 3. The spring force of the weight compensation spring 9 compensates for the torque by the total weight of the work attachment 4 acting on a base end-side rotary shaft of the boom 5. !
