PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine which determines failure of an on-off valve installed on a drainage passage and notifies a user of the failure on the occurrence thereof.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine comprises: a supercharger 9 installed on an air intake passage 4; an intercooler 10 arranged on the air intake passage at a downstream side of the supercharger; a drainage passage 28 with one end thereof connected to the downstream side of the intercooler and the other end thereof connected to an exhaust passage 5 at an upstream side of the catalyst 18 and the downstream side of a junction point between an exhaust recirculation device 25 and the exhaust passage 5 to discharge condensed water generated through dew condensation by the intercooler; an on-off valve 29 installed on the drainage passage; and detection means 33 installed on at least either the air intake passage or the exhaust passage to detect a state of at least either intake air or exhaust. The control device of the internal combustion engine determines failure of the on-off valve on the basis of a change in the state of the intake air or the exhaust detected by the detection means.
