PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator brake device using air pressure with high operation speed during emergency stop.SOLUTION: The elevator brake device comprises: a pair of brake shoes for sandwiching a brake disk of a hoist; a push spring for pushing the pair of brake shoes in a direction sandwiching the brake disk; an air pressure cylinder and a plunger for releasing pushing force of the push spring by taking compressed air in; a pressure reduction valve for exhausting the compressed air taken the air pressure cylinder in into atmosphere; and a rapid air exhaust valve for exhausting the compressed air taken into the air pressure cylinder at shorter time than time the pressure reduction valve exhausts the air.
