Heated articles are coated with polymer and solid additive in a fluidised bed of finely divided thermoplastic polymer to which a powdered solid additive is added. Suitable plastics are polyolefins, mixtures of polythene with polyisobutylene, polystyrene, the copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile, polyacrylates and polyamides. The additive may be a filler or pigment such as carbon black, titanium dioxide, cadmium sulphide, chrome yellow, zinc oxide, or an iron blue pigment, or an anti-oxidant. Articles may be coated, partially masked, then further coated to produce multi-colour effects. Specifications 795,177, 804,641 and 804,642 are referred to.
