<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate dealing with compactness in a multiplexing optical element, in particular, suitably used in optical communication.SOLUTION: A plate-like multiplexing optical element 4 multiplexing a plurality of light different in a wavelength has an incident surface 42 formed on one part of the multiplexing optical element 4 and has an emerging surface 43 formed at a face facing the incident surface 42. By a plurality of filters F1 to F4 having a transmission characteristic transmitting or reflecting respective light of a specific wavelength, when the plurality of light is obliquely incident from the incident surface 42, the light is adapted to emerge from the emerging surface 43 after multiplexed by transmitting the filters F1 to F4 or being reflected by the filters F1 to F4. Each of the filters F1 to F4 is designed so that, when the plurality of light is arranged in wavelength order, for reflecting light, a filter reflecting P polarization and a filter reflecting S polarization are alternatively juxtaposed.</p> |
