<p>A seat slide device (1) is provided with a long first rail (30), a second rail (40), an engagement member (20), a support structure (26, 47), and a spring (50). The second rail (40) is connected to the first rail (30) so as to be movable relative to the first rail (30) in the longitudinal direction thereof. The second rail (40) has first and second sidewall sections (44a, 44b). The engagement member (20) is provided between the first and second sidewall sections (44a, 44b) and pivots, depending on the pivot position thereof, between an engaged position at which the engagement member (20) is engaged with the first rail (30) and a disengaged position at which the engagement member (20) is located at a distance from the first rail (30). The support structure (26, 47) supports the engagement member (20) between the first and second sidewall sections (44a, 44b) so as to be capable of permitting the engagement member (20) to move in the longitudinal direction and to be capable of permitting the engagement member (20) to pivot about an axis extending in the width direction. The spring (50) presses the engagement member (20) in the direction toward the engaged position and elastically holds the position of the engagement member (20) in the longitudinal direction.</p> |
