A method and apparatus for establishing a channel are disclosed. The method includes: a home network transmitting a channel establishment request to a neighbor home network; and after receiving a confirmation response from the neighbor home network, the home network establishing a mutual-aid communication channel with the neighbor home network. The apparatus includes a channel request module and a channel establishment module.
