Textile coating apparatus and method

An apparatus 10a,b,c,d suitable for coating textiles comprising a coating reservoir 12 containing a textile coating composition 14 and a conveyor assembly to convey a material through the apparatus. The conveyor comprises one or more rollers 24, 26 with cooling means for cooling an outer surface 22, 28 of the rollers. The coating 14 may be heat curable above a temperature of 0°C and may be an aqueous adhesive solution. The cooling means may be located inside the rollers 24, 26 and may be a circulating liquid coolant. The cooling means may cool the outer surface 22, 28 to a temperature below the atmospheric dew point and/or to a point at which condensation forms on the outer surface 22, 28. The outer surface 22, 28 may comprise a moisture retaining cover which may be a fabric sleeve. There may be drying means for drying the coated material. The coating 14 may be transferred to the material via the outer surface 22, 28 or by being guided through the reservoir 12.
