A distance measuring scanner mounted on a cleaning robot according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a light-transmitting part for emitting a beam of light for measuring a distance to an object; a light-receiving part for detecting the light reflected on the object and gathering on the distance measuring scanner; and a control part for checking whether or not there exist foreign materials on the surface of the cleaning robot by comparing a reference distance between the reference position of the cleaning robot and the robot with a measured distance obtained by rotating the cleaning robot by a certain angle.
