The extension (10) has a nozzle cover (18) limiting a flow cross-section (24), which is extended from a nozzle extension inlet (14) to a nozzle extension outlet (16). The nozzle extension inlet is connected with a combustion chamber outlet of a combustion chamber of an engine. The nozzle cover comprises two shell elements (26, 28) made of a ceramic fiber reinforced composite material, where the shell elements are fixed relative to each other. The shell element (26) limits an interior space (22), and the composite material is carbon/silicon carbide material. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a nozzle extension for an engine.
