<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce (z)-1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene (OF-1233Z) substantially not containing 3-chloro-1,1,1,3-tetrafluoropropane (HCFC-244fa) from OF-1233Z containing HCFC-244fa. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing OF-1233Z includes a step for contacting an OF-1233Z composition containing HCFC-244fa with a tertiary amine such as triethylamine to give an amine-treated composition. When the OF-1233Z composition is a composition containing 2-chloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane, the method for producing OF-1233Z includes a step in which, after an amine treatment with a tertiary amine, the amine-treated composition is further contacted with an inorganic base such as sodium hydroxide.
