PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension device for imparting tension to a continuous sheet by using the air jetted from an air nozzle.SOLUTION: A tension device 1 generates back tension to a continuous sheet 3 by the frictional force generated by the air pressure of the air jetted from a pair of air nozzles 10, the tension device 1 disposing a pair of air nozzles 10 jetting the air so as to sandwich the continuous sheet 3 from the upper and lower sides of the continuous sheet 3 on the right and left of the continuous sheet 3, respectively. Moreover, according to the tension device 1, since the air is jetted for the continuous sheet 3 passing through between the pair of air nozzles 10 from above and below, the air blows off the foreign matters on the front and rear surfaces of the continuous sheet 3, therefore the foreign matters can be removed on the front and back surfaces of the continuous sheet 3.
