<p>Disclosed is a hollow elongate column constructed from two rolled sheet metal members (1, 2). The sheet metal members are inwards facing members of substantially uniform thickness and concave in shape with the two longitudinal edges of each member projecting inwards to provide a pair of abutment means (5, 6). The longitudinal edges of the abutment means are further projected inwards again to provide locating means (3, 4). The pair of abutment means of the sheet metal members abut each other. Clip means (15), comprising a rolled sheet metal channel, slide longitudinally over the abutted pair of abutment means, guided by the locating means to hold the sheet metal members in place. The hollow column may be filled with concrete, which may be reinforced, to provide a reinforced beam or column.</p> |
